OUTRUN YOUR DEBT – Midseason Update

The Giles & Lambert #21 car is 4 races into the 2019 race season at the Motor Mile Speedway. At this point in the season, driver Wayne Corprew has taken one second place trophy and raced hard to earn top five finishes in two other races (a scheduled fourth race was cancelled due to rain). Most excitingly, the Outrun Your Debt driver of the #21 car is in second place for the Super Street Championship at this time due to his fast car and tenacious driving! https://speedhive.mylaps.com/Championships/77281

While driver #21 will not return to the track until the next Super Street race, scheduled for June 29, 2019, Wayne and his team are continuing to make adjustments to the car with the hopes of making it even faster. Whether you’re a regular at the Motor Mile Speedway or are considering attending a race for the first time, the June 29th race night is also the Monster Truck Show! https://www.motormilespeedway.com/monster-truck-show Tickets for the event are on sale now through the link above.

Roanoke Conference Day

Six members of the Giles & Lambert team, including four attorneys and two paralegals, attended the Western District of Virginia Bankruptcy Conference on June 7, 2019, in Roanoke. The conference included training topics for both attorneys and staff as well as relevant case law updates. Additionally, partner Malissa Giles, along with other panelists, shared with attendees pieces of advice on topics related to Chapter 13 cases.

What does this mean for our clients? It demonstrates Giles & Lambert’s commitment to invest in the training and continued education of its attorneys and staff with the ultimate goal of having a team who can provide our bankruptcy clients the very best legal representation possible.

So if you have too much debt and don’t know where to turn, we encourage you to contact us to schedule your free bankruptcy consultation.

Legal aid societies provide invaluable service to low-income clients by providing low-cost (and oftentimes free) legal representation in a variety of legal matters. Locally, the Legal Aid Society of the Roanoke Valley has made applying for services easier than ever! See below for details about applying for services online.

If you are in need of bankruptcy services but do not qualify for legal aid, please consider Giles & Lambert, as we try to provide reasonable payment plans to all clients.

OUTRUN YOUR DEBT

Wayne Corprew will be racing in car number 21, sponsored by Giles & Lambert, PC, for the 2019 race season at the Motor Mile Speedway in Fairlawn, Virginia.  Information on race schedules, tickets, and more can be found at https://www.motormilespeedway.com/

Wayne has been racing cars for approximately 30 years.  He took about a four year break from racing but is excited to return to the track.

In Wayne’s racing career, he has won a total of five championships, two of which were at the Motor Mile Speedway for the 2009 and 2010 season.  In all, Wayne has won 22 races at the Motor Mile Speedway.  (For those who may not be familiar with racing, drivers accumulate points during a season, and at the end of the racing season, the driver with the most accumulated points is awarded the season championship.)

The Giles & Lambert #21 car will be racing in the Super Street Class at the Motor Mile Speedway, which is a new racing class at the Motor Mile Speedway.

We are eager to watch Wayne race this season and hope you will come out to cheer him on!

Bankruptcy Often Helps Your Credit Score

When a client is ready to file bankruptcy, they are stressed, concerned and nervous. They often do not know what their next step is or how the bankruptcy process works. At Giles & Lambert, PC, we try to provide clear advice on the process so that you are assured of how a bankruptcy works.

Additionally, one service we offer clients through a provider is a credit score analysis of how bankruptcy may help you personally.  We run a credit report for all clients on the day you hire us.  That report will actually show current and predictive post-bankruptcy scores. By using CIN Legal Data Services’ preferred credit reports, we can try to give you peace of mind about the impact of filing.  The majority of folks will find that 12 months after filing their credit score has really improved.

According to CIN, the credit score analysis provided with the report calculates the potential score impact of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing. This simulation assumes that three months after filing, except for student loans and mortgages, all debt is discharged. It adds an open, revolving credit card with a $500 credit limit two months after discharge, and then maintains a balance of $300 on that card for 10 months. The final score is calculated one year after the bankruptcy discharge.

Out of clients who hired us last week, the average report estimated scores would increase by about 110 points in a year, and some estimated an increase of more than 150 points. While this does not happen for everyone depending on personal circumstances, it does help let clients know how bankruptcy can improve their financial situation.

Making this report part of our process helps client know they are taking the right steps to resolve debt issues.
